At the Global Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (GFCNI), our mission is to advocate for lasting improvements in the care, support, and outcomes for newborns and their families worldwide. We pay special attention to the needs of infants born too soon, too small, or too sick – those requiring hospitalization, specialized medical care, surgeries, medications, and ongoing follow-up beyond infancy. Recognizing that newborn health begins with maternal health, we also include advocacy for mothers before, during, and after pregnancy.
As a global organization, we understand that meaningful change requires approaches tailored to unique cultural, political, historical, and socio-economic contexts. Disparities in newborn care and outcomes persist, often compounded by factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, education, economic status, and other forms of discrimination. Part of our core mission is therefore to challenge and dismantle these systemic barriers, ensuring equitable and accessible care for every vulnerable newborn and family worldwide.
GFCNI unites a powerful global network of diverse stakeholders, bringing together families, patient advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, international organizations, and corporate partners. Together, we work across borders and disciplines to drive improvements in care standards and policy, empower local communities, and amplify the voices of those directly affected.
